The news agency said the survey for consumer magazine Which? asked readers whether they would definitely recommend their car to a friend.
Reuters said the X5 and Yaris Verso scored a 92% “yes” response, while the Mazda MX-5, Lexus IS200, Toyota Yaris (Vitz/Echo), Jaguar S-Type, Mini, and Skoda’s Octavia and Fabia also made the top 10.
In contrast, the report added that Citroen’s Saxo supermini scored the lowest, with only 34% of owners surveyed saying they would recommend it, while the French maker’s larger Xsara family-size hatchback only scored 37% and Rover also fared badly, with its 25 hatchback scoring 40% and the larger 45, 42%.
In the category of “Best Buys,” the Yaris, Yaris Verso and Honda Jazz (Fit) came on top of the superminis, while the medium car laurels were carried off by Ford’s Focus and the Honda Civic, along with the Nissan Almera and Toyota Corolla, Reuters said.
Reuters said Which? readers judged Nissan’s [Altima-sized] Primera to be ahead of the pack in the large car “Best Buy” class, with the Lexus IS200/IS300 and BMW 3 series leading the field at the premium end of the scale.
