Bridgestone is evaluating the scale of damage caused to its factories in Japan following the devastating earthquake last Friday (11 March) that has seen automakers temporarily halt production.
The tyremaker says there is “no critical damage” to its Tochig, Nasu, Kuroiso and Tokyo factories, although it has stopped production. Each factory is “verifying its safety” according to the producer.

“Bridgestone will study whether factories can restart their production, taking into consideration electricity restriction and other issues, said the company in a statement.
At the Yokohama factory, production has partially restarted.
“Bridgestone Group would like to express their condolences to the families who lost loved ones off the Pacific coast of Tohoku and truly hope the area devastated by the earthquake disaster will be reconstructed as soon as possible,” added the company.
