Following the recent opening of Mopar facilities in China and the United Arab Emirates, Chrysler Group has announced the opening of two more parts distribution centres in Argentina and Brazil.

“We are opening Mopar operations in Argentina and Brazil in order to further support our network of dealers and customers in these growing markets,” said Pietro Gorlier, president and CEO of the automaker’s service, parts and aftersales brand. “We will continue to look for strategic opportunities.”

The parts distribution centre in Argentina is located in General Rodriguez, Buenos Aires. The 3,000 sq m facility will distribute around 10,000 part numbers to over 25 dealer locations. The 4,500 sq m facility in Brazil is located in Louveira, Sao Paulo, and will move over 20,000 part numbers to 30 dealers.

With over 500,000 part lines, Mopar now has over 50 parts distribution centres worldwide.

Chrysler and Fiat recently opened a 16,000 sq m parts centre in Shanghai and an 18,000 sq m facility in Dubai. Both together carry over 65,000 part numbers for the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram Truck and Fiat brands.

Mopar (a contraction of the words MOtor and PARts) was originally trademarked for antifreeze products in 1937. The Mopar brand as the then Chrysler Corporation built race-ready Dodge and Plymouth ‘package cars’ equipped with special high-performance parts. Mopar also carried a line of parts for super stock drag racers and developed its racing parts division – Mopar Performance Parts – for both road and racing use.
