BMW is talking to General Motors with a view to cooperating on fuel cell technology.
Chairman Norbert Reithofer told the BMW annual accounts press conference that the two carmakers had been talking for some time before the recent alliance announcement between GM and PSA Peugeot Citroen.

He added: “We had no idea that GM and PSA were planning an alliance but our discussions with GM on fuel cells will continue. They have a lot of expertise in this area but we have nothing confirmed yet.”
Reithofer said the alliance did not affect BMW’s deal with PSA on 1.4 and 1.6 engines.“I can’t comment on the PSA-GM alliance but as far as we are concerned, our deal with PSA is solid.”
