Nissan Motor launched its luxury Infiniti brand in Indonesia this week – the first new market in a 25-country expansion drive for the brand over the next two years. The company is targeting an initial 5% of the country’s luxury car segment, which it estimated at 4,000 units last year.
A new showroom was unveiled in the Pondok Indah district of Jakarta on Wednesday. The first models to be imported include the range-topping M37 passenger car, fitted with a 3.7-litre V6 engine and priced at close to IDR1.1bn (US$125,400). It is sold alongside the FX50 and FX37 sport utility vehicles and the G37 coupe.
