Ford will officially open its US$450m car plant in Rayong in May and production of the Focus will begin soon afterwards. The Fiesta is already made in Thailand and exported widely as far as Australia and New Zealand.
The new plant has an annual production capacity of 150,000 units and cars built there will also be sold in Thailand and other Asia-Pacific markets.

Ford’s Asia Pacific chief Joe Hinrichs said that, besides Thailand, which is now one of the automaker’s key export hubs, the company is also exploring investment opportunities in Indonesia.
