Pittsburgh Glass Works (PGW) is to establish a new North American manufacturing facility in Elkin to meet increasing demand for automotive glass products.

PGW has started the process to complete infrastructure improvements to an existing site that will be converted into a US$85m, 416,000 sq ft manufacturing facility located in Elkin.

Some 260 jobs are thought to be created with the hiring process to be started next year.

“The Elkin facility will be a state of the art operation that enhances our current customer delivery, increases our manufacturing capacity and provides flexibility within our manufacturing operations,” said PGW chairman and CEO James Wiggins.

The Elkin facility will produce automotive glass products for original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket organisations within the automotive industry.

PGW supplies automotive OEM windshields, rear and side windows, sunroofs and assemblies for auto and truck manufacturers, a well supplying and distributing replacement automotive glass products for use in the automotive aftermarket.
