MG -owned by China’s SAIC -was keen to promote its Britishness with visitors to the stand greeted by the prominent name Morris Garages and numerous glimpses of the Union Jack.
Alongside the very attractive MG5 concept was the company’s new small hatchback, the MG3, developed jointly by MG’s 250-member design and engineering team in the UK and staff here in Shanghai.
It’s slated for launch in the UK in December 2012 and MG is promising a 1.4-litre diesel among the engine choices.
The MG3 is about the same size a five-door Fiesta and the automaker said it would rival the Skoda Fabia on price.
