Kia has moved into the luxury segment with the introduction of its redesigned K9 flagship now on sale in Korea.
The new rear wheel drive model will be launched in several ‘key’ overseas markets starting in the fourth quarter of this year*. It has a 5,090 mm overall length and 3,045 mm wheelbase. Overall width and height are 1,900 mm and 1,490 mm, respectively, which creates a spacious cabin.

Initially, the K9 will be exported with an upgraded 290ps 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine with a 334ps direct injection motor due next year. Eight-speed automatic transmission is standard.
The new sedan introduces a range of advanced luxury features and technology including fully adaptive all-LED headlamps, lane departure warning system (LDWS), radar-based blind-spot detection (BSD), a 17-speaker Lexicon (Harman) sound system, smart cruise control (SCC) and an around view monitor (AVM) with four cameras.
The model will be launched in Africa and the Middle East later this year although launch timing for the US, China and other markets has not been decided.
Kia said its sales target is 25,000 next year, up from 18,200 this year.
*the overseas model name is Quoris, with the car to premiere in that form at the Moscow motor show in August
