General Motors will eliminate 190 jobs at research facilities in the US and India.
A GM spokesman told AFP: “We’re restructuring our global R&D business to better focus on developing customer-focused innovations in a more efficient way.
“These changes to R&D will hopefully allow the company to continue innovation but in a faster manner.”
The spokesman added that most of the positions affected are staff scientists, although they will have the opportunity to apply for other jobs at GM. Around 100 jobs will go at its technical centre in Warren, Michigan, and 90 in Bangalore, India.
