General Motors’ Europe unit Opel/Vauxhall is adding production shifts at two of its factories to meet growing demand for the Astra model, an Opel spokesman said.
The company is adding eight shifts at its plants in Gliwice, Poland and Ellesmere Port in England to the end of July, he told Reuters.

“This demand is in our European core markets, primarily in Britain, but also in France, and Russia is recovering, too,” the spokesman said.
The plant at Opel’s headquarters in Ruesselsheim, which makes the Insignia saloon model, is producing at full capacity and will start building Astras as well on 22 August.
