Nissan Motor said on Tuesday its engine plant in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, has been fully restored after being damaged by the 11 March earthquake.
Nissan president Carlos Ghosn told Kyodo News the automaker would spend about JPY3bn to make the plant more quake-resistant by reinforcing the foundations.

The Iwaki plant, which produces about 30,000 large engines a month for the Fuga luxury sedan and other models, partially resumed operations in mid-April. The Fuga is known as the Infiniti M sedan in various overseas markets.
The quake damaged parts of the plant’s floor and exhaust vents.
Nissan initially had expected the plant to be fully restored in early June, but was able to move up the schedule, Kyodo said.
