New vehicle sales in Indonesia increased by 43.3% to 87,079 units in April, compared with 60,726 units a year earlier, according to data released by the local industry association Gaikindo.
Sales of light passenger vehicles increased by 53.9% 60,819 units, with demand continuing to be driven by low interest rates. Commercial vehicle sales rose by 23.7% to 26,260 units.

Cumulative sales for the first four months of 2012 were up by 17.9% to 337,791 units, compared with 286,465 units a year earlier.
