Chery Auto has commenced assembly of its first cars in Myanmar, formerly Burma. The state-owned vehicle manufacturer plans to build between 3,000 and 5,000 vehicles annually in the country.
The new plant, an SKD operation, is a joint venture with the Second Industry Ministry of Burma (SIM). Curiously, Chery has not listed the exact location for the facility in its sparsely-worded media release. Its press office was not available for clarification.

The Chery QQ3 is built at a plant in the city of Wuhu in China’s Anhui province. This facility also supplies kits to another in Ho Chi Minh City. The Vietnamese factory is, unlike the new plant in Burma, a CKD operation.
