Ford is to shutter its Santa Rosa plant in the Philippines at the end of 2012. Some 250 people will be affected by the move. The facility builds the Escape SUV.
This is the second time the company has ended its manufacturing presence in the country. Having closed all operations in 1984 in response to political instability, Ford then re-entered the market in 1997.

Ford Group Philippines president Randy Krieger told the Associated Press earlier on 27 June that the company “could not make a strong enough business case for future manufacturing” in the country.
Over the last decade, Ford Philippines has exported an average of only 8,000 vehicles per year.
