Renault
will launch an updated, locally made Scénic minivan in Brazil on April
11, writes Rogério Louro Alves.

The latest model, made in the São José dos Pinhais assembly plant,
in Paraná state, will have essentially the same detail exterior and interior

The Brazilian Scénic will also get Renault’s new French-made 16-valve
two-litre 138bhp petrol engine in place of the previous model’s 115bhp
Mexican-made eight-valve unit.

A Brazilian-built 1.6-litre, 110bhp 16-valver continues as an alternative engine
option.

Renault expects to sell 24,500 of the revamped Scénics this year, up
from 15,438 in 2000.
