Honda Australia is to buy its first diesel versions of the CR-V SUV from Honda UK Manufacturing.
The Australian unit is gearing up to launch the redesigned CR-V line in October, with petrol models from Thailand, with which the country has a free trade agreement.

Diesels from the UK will follow in 2013, the first time Honda Australia has offered the CR-V with an ‘oil burning’ option.
Local publication GoAutoNews said the move “helps decentralise Honda product sourcing away from Thailand, which was badly affected by floods last year, cutting up to 80 per cent of Honda Australia’s stock”.
The Australian arm already splits Civic sourcing, bringing sedans in from Thailand and hatchbacks from England.
CR-Vs are also made in the US.
