French Economic Redevelopment Minister, Arnaud Montebourg, says the special report on PSA Peugeot Citroen’s restructuring plans will be published on 11 September.
The government has tasked Emmanuel Sartorius with evaluating PSA’s intention to cut up to 8,000 jobs and shut its C3-producing plant at Aulnay, plans which have collectively enraged France’s automotive unions.

Whether Sartorius’ report will have any effect on PSA’s determination to press ahead with its restructuring is unclear, but he has been mandated to undertake an analysis of the automaker’s economic, financial and industrial position.
“In agreement with the unions and management of the PSA Group, the publication of this report will take place on 11 September, in tandem with the launching of a social dialogue in September,” said a statement from Montebourg’s Paris office.
“This analysis will be a large element leading to discussions between unions, PSA management and local politicians.”
PSA recently reported first half automotive net losses of EUR819m (US$1bn) as group revenue fell 5.1% year-on-year to EUR29.6bn. Automotive division revenues dropped 10.5%.
