to receive type certification as required by XM Satellite Radio to build vehicle
original equipment receivers for the company.
Delphi Delco Electronics Systems has received approval to proceed with commercial
production of receivers capable of receiving the new satellite radio service.

Delphi will begin building the receivers in the fourth quarter of this year
for 2002 model vehicles.
Announced in 1999, satellite radio is a new category of radio that uses direct
satellite-to-receiver digital broadcasting technology.
The subscription-based service will provide listeners from coast-to-coast with
up to 100 channels of digital-quality music, news, sports, talk, comedy, entertainment
and children’s programming.
XM’s national rollout is scheduled to begin on September 12 in Dallas/Fort
Worth and San Diego, expand in mid-October to the southwest, and in early November
to the rest of the continental United States.
