JAC and Navistar will officially announce their engine manufacturing joint venture (JV) in Beijing on August 23. The JV has already been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission.
The two companies are investing CNY1.8bn (US$284.12m) to set up a production facility for the JV, which is slated to be completed by the end of 2012, reported Anhui News. The facility, which will have a production capacity of 150,000 engines, will produce the JAC HFC4DA1 series of diesel engines and several different Navistar MaxxForce diesel motors. Production at the facility is anticipated to commence in October next year.

JAC’s Commercial Vehicle Research Institute’s head, Wei Zhongliang believes that the combination of JAC’s chassis and body technology and Navistar’s engines will enable the JV to be successful.
