Sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) in Russia increased 48% year on year to 1.686m units in January–August, the automobile manufacturers committee of the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said.

August sales rose 32% to 224,764 units, the committee told Prime News.

Chairman David Thomas said AEB expected sales to grow 30% to around 2.47m units in 2011.

Nissan sales in August almost doubled (+95%) to 81,567 units.

2010 sales rose 30% to 1.9m units.
