Hyundai Motor said it expects combined sales of its Hyundai and Kia brands to grow 12.4% in Europe, exceeding previous forecasts.

The company said in a statement it plans to sell 405,000 Hyundai vehicles in the region in 2011, up from its earlier target of 400,000, while affiliate Kia projected sales of 293,000, compared with its previous goal of 285,000.

HMC has previously said it expects to beat its 2011 global sales target, as the worldwide economic uncertainty creates an opportunity for the carmaker to accelerate sales and grab more market share.

Hyundai-Kia achieved a record monthly market share of 5.8% in Europe in August as its sales expanded by 20% in a market which grew 8%.
