Kongsberg Automotive is merging its actuation & chassis (A&C) and power product systems (PPS) units into one to be called Driver Control Systems.

The two sectors share similar markets and significant cross-selling and benefits can be realised from closer collaboration, the supplier said. The new business area will have revenues exceeding EUR250m (US$3201m), close to 1,400 employees, and serve the on- and off-highway, and recreational products segments.

The new company structure of four business areas (driver control systems, fluid transfer systems, interior and driveline) will take effect on 1 January 2013. Driver Control Systems will be lead by Jim Ryan, who currently heads PPS.

Kongsberg Automotive has won new contracts with two of Europe’s largest manufacturers of trucks and buses to deliver composite coupling technology and fuel and airline assemblies. The contracts have a combined value of about EUR10m over their duration, and production commences already in 2013.
