Toshiyuki Shiga also told reporters that parts suppliers in Thailand are not producing components that cannot be replaced by other companies’ products. Many automakers are looking at taking countermeasures such as bringing in parts from Japan or other production sites, Shiga said.

Toyota Motor’s Thai subsidiary has said that it now expects to suspend production at its three Thai assembly plants through to the end of the month, when the situation will be reviewed again for a possible resumption of operations on October 31. The halt to production had previously been announced for the period October 10 through October 22.
Toyota said in a statement that the recent flooding in Thailand has had no direct impact on its three plants (Samrong, Gateway and Ban Pho) or their employees.
