Toyota Motor reportedly is secretly developing a solar powered vehicle though production is some years away.
The Nikkei business newspaper said the vehicle intially would draw some power from onboard solar cells and could also be recharged with home-generated solar panel electricity. Later models would be completely powered by on-board panels.
Like other global automakers, Toyota is already using solar arrays to provide some power for its facilities.
