Tata Motors, which has requested UK government help for its Jaguar Land Rover operations acquired last year, is to temporarily close a commercial vehicle plant in eastern India.

A spokesman told Reuters the plant in Jamshedpur would be closed from 12 to 17 January to reduce inventory.
The firm’s vehicle sales were down 47% last month with commericals off 51% and it has been temporarily closing various plants throughout India since November as demand fell.
