According to the Japan Automobile Dealers Association, used vehicle sales in the country hit a 23-year low of 4,298,086 units, excluding minivehicles.
The association said the decline was in part due to a decrease in the supply of relatively new trade-in stock as new vehicle sales slumped.
Used passenger cars fell 6.2% to 3,672,856 units. Trucks fell 3.5% to 504,521 units, and buses 1.4% to 16,193 units.
