GM said on Thursday the 19.7% year on rise was helped largely by sales of Wuling Sunshine minivans.
The venture, in which GM holds 34%, accounted for 59.22% of the S. automaker’s overall sales in China in 2008, Reuters reported.
GM’s car manufacturing venture in Shanghai has not yet announced January sales results. The automaker said today it was considering another light commerical JV with China’s FAW Group.
