Automobile sales in Brazil rose 16.41% in December from November, capping a record year in 2009, the nation’s automobile dealers association said on Tuesday.
Registrations for new vehicles in 2009 increased 11.35% to a record 3.14m units, the association told Reuters.
Last year, the government slashed taxes for a number of goods, including cars, to spur consumer demand as the global financial crisis took its toll.
