Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey rose 2.5% year-on-year in January to 20,095, according to the country’s Automotive Distributors Association.

Last year vehicle production fell 24% year on year to 869,953 units according to the local automotive industry association (OSD).

In a statement cited by Reuters, the OSD said Turkish demand for automobiles might shrink 10% in 2010 if the impact of the economic crisis lingered but added production was seen as stable this year.
