Russia’s car tyre output decreased 24.3% on the year to 19.83 million units in 2009, the Economic Development Ministry has said.

The reduction reflects lower demand from both the OE and aftermarket sectors last year as Russia’s severe recession hit new car purchase – and therefore car production – as well as demand from existing car owners.
The statistics also showed that truck tyre output decreased 30.2% on the year to 7.07 million units in the period, the ministry said.
