Tenneco Automotive Japan is to begin full-scale marketing of replacement vehicle parts in Russia’s Far East, especially the region around Vladivostok.
The main products will be shock absorbers and mufflers suitable for Japanese cars, with the company also marketing new and reconditioned parts, including brakes, clutches and springs manufactured by other companies.
Tenneco has set a sales target of Y100 million (US$840,000) for this year, but is aiming for three to four times that amount by 2004.
Tenneco had been shipping parts from its Belgian subsidiary to the Russian Far East with a two-week timescale. From Yokohama, however, parts can be delivered in seven to 10 days, decreasing shipping costs.
