Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corporation (MFTBC) will deliver its first order of 25 hybrid Canter Eco light trucks to Australia by the end of March.
The light-duty vehicles are destined for local freight company Star Track Express. Kawasaki-based MFTBC said this was the largest Japanese hybrid truck export shipment to date.

“This hybrid truck business with Star Track Express marks a very positive step in our product offensive for hybrid expansion in international markets,” said MFTBC international sales & service chief Kai-Uwe Seidenfuss.
The deal followed last October’s shipment of 10 hybrid Canters to the Electricity Supply Board utility in Ireland.
MFTBC has marketed hybrid trucks in Japan since July 2006 when it launched the Canter. To date, around 750 units have been sold there.
Star Track Express services include road freight, priority airfreight and third party warehousing.
