The automaker told the newspaper it planned to use the downtime, expected to cut production by around 11,000 cars, for technology upgrades and to prepare for new projects at its site located in the western Slovak town of Trnava.
The factory, a joint venture with Toyota, produced 205,000 Peugeot 107, Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo cars last year.
A Toyota Motor Europe spokeswoman said she had not been advised of the temporary shutdowns but expected the effect on Toyota would be minimal.
