Daimler is remaining tight-lipped surrounding reports it is facing significant fines in the US concerning apparent corruption investigations.
The German automaker declined to elaborate to just-auto on intense media speculation that has raised the possibility of swingeing financial penalties, but did confirm it was facing court proceedings next week.

“We have a hearing scheduled in Washington for 1 April at the US district court and we as a company as well as the US authorities will not comment on [any] settlement prior to the such a hearing,” a Daimler spokeswoman said.
“It is not that we won’t or can’t [comment]. These investigations are not new at all – we reported since 2005 about the issue.
“The reason it is happening now is the date for hearing is now.”
