Hyundai affiliate Kia Motors expects 2009 sales to match 2008’s volume as demand grows for smaller cars, its president said on Tuesday.

Chung Eui-sun said in a statement cited by Reuters the company had targeted sales of 1.4m units this year, in line with the 2008 tally, and would focus on cutting costs to deal with the recent rise of the Korean won.


Kia sold 399,200 cars in the first four months of 2009, down 14.5% year on year.
