The Nashik industrial court in western India ruled on Wednesday the tools-down strike, which started on 4 May in protest against disciplinary action against a union leader, was unjustified, the company said in a statement to the stock exchange cited by Reuters. The court ordered the strike to be called off within 48 hours, it said.

“They are advised to report for their work in their respective shifts at the earliest,” the company said, quoting the court order.

The plant, with production capacity of 150,000 vehicles a year, produces M&M’s popular flagship Scorpio utility vehicle and the Renault Logan sedan. The company had said the strike would temporarily affect production.
