Spyker Cars has finalised the purchase of Saab GB with the British operation now beginning what the company refers to as a ‘carve out’ procedure from former parent General Motors in the UK.

The Dutch company said the process would be completed “in the next few months,” allowing Saab GB to operate as an independent company but that formal transfer of ownership had now taken place.

The development forms part of the newly-independent Saab Spyker company, with the carve out resulting in the organisation expecting to move to new premises in August this year.

” We are now looking forward to a busy period of new product launches over the next 24 months, starting with the UK launch of the all new 9-5 in our dealers on 8 July,” said Saab GB managing director Jonathan Nash.

“Our dealer body has a reputation for individual customer service that fits with Saab’s position as an independent manufacturer.”

Spyker Cars CEO Victor Muller said the Saab GB acquisition had been finalised “within the time-frame set,” noting the UK ranked in the top three markets for Saab.

Spyker Cars paid a largely symbolic GBP1 (US$1.46) for Saab GB.
