Volkswagen India is reviving the Vento brand for its version of the Polo sedan which will be launched next autumn. It will be the brand’s second volume model after the Polo hatchback and will be positioned as a premium entry level sedan.

The ‘New Vento’ will be assembled at VW’s local plant in Chakan, Pune, with 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines and manual or automatic transmission.

It will be the seventh VW model for India where the Phaeton, Passat, Jetta, Beetle, Touareg and Polo are already sold.

Vento was used in some markets as a brand for the third generation Jetta.
