As reported last month by just-auto, Ssangyong Motor has now signed a new deal to export CKD kits to Russia over the next seven years.

The upbeat news comes days after the launch of a closed auction which is expected to result in the selection of a preferred buyer for the struggling SUV maker by August.

The export deal with Russian industrial holding company Sollers, a leading shareholder in Russian vehicle manufacturers UAZ and ZMA, is for the supply of 156,100 Ssangyong kits by 2017, starting with 16,700 units in 2011.

Sollers is an existing partner of Ssangyong, with 12,000 kits expected to be supplied this year – up from 10,260 units in 2008.

The increase in orders comes as Ssangyong prepares to launch production of the the compact SUV/Korando C in July.
