Sales of new road vehicles in Romania grew 17.8% to 7,430 in March 2001 from 6,307
in March 2000, according to provisional totals provided to just-auto.com by the
Association of Automobile Producers and Importers in Romania.

Volumes rose: 22.5% for commercial vehicles to 1,469 from 1,199; and 18.0%
for cars to 5,941 from 5,034. Buses fell 73.0% to 20 from 74.

Year-to-date, sales remained up 23.8% for all vehicles to 19,259 in 2001 from
15,556 in 2000. Turnover expanded: 27.1% for cars to 15,436 from 12,140; and
14.4% for commercial vehicles to 3,764 from 3,289. Buses declined 53.5% to 59
from 127.

In 2000 versus 1999, overall sales contracted 28.7% to 84,170 from 118,064.
Decreases registered: 31.5% for cars to 66,276 from 96,765; and 16.9% for commercial
vehicles to 17,440 from 20,982. Buses increased 43.2% to 454 from 317.
