Walt Disney expects the deal will boost sales of its movies, while Panasonic hopes it will help make its memory card format a standard in the industry, reports say.

Under the deal, the two companies plan to put on the market at the end of this year Disney movies on DVDs that come in a package containing a Panasonic microSD card with a copy of the movie. The card has a copy-protection feature.

The price of the DVDs with the memory cards will be higher than those containing only a DVD.

By inserting the memory card into mobile phones and car navigation systems capable of receiving digital TV broadcasts, consumers can enjoy movies while on the move.
