GM’s new board meets later on Monday and industry sources have told Reuters Opel likely would be discussed.

German economy minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg said at the weekend the two suitors must improve their bids to win government backing.

Both the federal government and administrations in regions where Opel has plants support Magna’s plan, reported today to include over 3,000 job losses.
