The full hybrid car was boosted by government incentives and tax breaks for fuel efficient cars. It sold 27,712 units.
The Prius line of both second generation (Toyota has kept one version in production) and new third generation cars topped the sales charts for the first time in June, toppling Honda’s rival Insight from its brief reign as Number One. Japan Automobile Dealers Association and Japan Mini Vehicles Association data placed Suzuki Motor’s WagonR minicar second last month with sales of 18,140 units. The Insight was seventh with 10,210 sales.
