VW has started selling VW Transporter, VW Caravelle, VW Multivan, and VW Caddy models.

VW’s Russia plant began operations in November 2007 – it also assembles Skoda brand cars.

In 2008, the plant produced over 60,000 cars.

Volkswagen assembled 25,100 vehicles at its Russian plant in January-July.

Analysts note that OEMs are looking to make their Russia facilities work harder for them in the face of a sharply declining market – in order to support capacity utilisation rates and due to the weak Russian currency which has made imported BU vehicles more expensive.
