Indian car production rose 32% for the April-July period to reach 5.57m vehicles says the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.

 The passenger vehicles segment in April-July 2010 grew 34% compared to the same period last year, while utility vehicles increased 24%. The multi purpose vehicles sector grew by 44%.

Overall domestic sales of commercial vehicles registered growth of 50% from April-July, compared to the same period last year. Medium & heavy commercial vehicles posted an increase of 74%, while light commercial vehicles grew at 35%.
 
During the same time, three wheeler sales recorded a growth rate of 18%. Passenger carriers grew by 21% and goods carriers increased 7%.
 
Overall automobile exports registered a growth rate of 54%, with passenger vehicles, two wheelers, commercial vehicles and the three wheelers segments increasing by 9%, 62%, 95% and 142% respectively in April-July 2010.
