Dow Jones reported that GM will add a Friday shift at its Orion Twp., Mich., plant where it builds the midsize Chevrolet Malibu; and two Friday shifts at the Lordstown, Ohio, factory that builds the compact Chevrolet Cobalt.
Both plants typically run four-day work weeks.
Ford announced last week that it was upping production over previous plans in response to higher demand for some of its models that has been stimulated by ‘cash for clunkers’.
