Hankook Tire is considering a US$1.2bn investment to set up a tyre plant in Indonesia according to an Indonesian media report.

Business Indonesia has reported that officials from Hankook have paid multiple visits to Indonesia in recent months to investigate possible locations for a plant close to Jakarta.

The report added that the company plans to begin construction of a plant at the end of this year – with the plant having the capacity to make 15m tyres a year.
