Chief operating officer Toshiyuki Shiga told Japanese media that new car sales in Russia are now growing and that the company is also considering switching its Russian plant to operate on three shifts instead of the current two shifts. Nissan opened the St Petersburg plant in June 2009. It assembles Teana sedans and X-trail sports utility vehicles.
