Ford will begin exporting its compact Indian-made Figo from India to 50 new markets starting next year, the automaker’s Asia Pacific and Africa chief, Joe Hinrichs, said on Thursday.

The Figo is an updated previous generation European Fiesta produced in India with a high local content, including engines.
Hinrichs said Ford would export the Figo to Mexico, north African countries and the United Arab Emirates.
The automaker launched the Figo car in India earlier this year and it has become a best seller. Volume in the January to July period was 46,751 units, with the bulk of sales being of the Figo – over 30,000 units.
